Dear Valued Friends, Partners and Family,

Today on Giving Tuesday, we want to take a moment to share some positivity and the many ways we have been working hard to protect and care for our senior family at Holly Hall. We remain true to the Holly Hall mission of attending to the physical safety and well-being of our residents, while continuing to prioritize their spiritual, social and intellectual growth.

As you know, the senior population is particularly vulnerable in these uncertain times. We look forward to working together to help keep residents safe, healthy and enriched every day.

HEALTH MEASURES. Holly Hall took immediate action to protect residents from the current pandemic.
Essential workers, vendors and caretakers are screened daily and must wear face masks at all times. A dedicated isolation wing has been created in the healthcare facility, should the need arise. In addition, a strict no-visitor policy has been in effect since mid-March. While sometimes difficult, these measures have proven effective in safeguarding our residents during this pandemic.

SOCIAL ENRICHMENT. The support and encouragement of family and friends can greatly improve the quality of life for seniors, and although no visitors are currently allowed on campus, we have had some fun times all the same. We celebrated a 95th birthday with drive-by good cheer and greetings, as well as a festive 100th birthday. We have hosted hallway concerts, devotionals and games, and designed exercise classes and indoor walking trails. Our weekly “fun cart” delivers treats to everyone’s door each Thursday. The Holly Hall staff makes weekly calls and visits to residents, and on request, we schedule video phone calls with loved ones. Thanks to our wonderfully large campus, residents have the option to get outside, walk and enjoy the fresh air and spring gardens.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT. Many of our community volunteers, partners and friends have reached out in search of ways that they can help. We have truly been blessed by volunteer groups making facemasks, writing letters and cards to residents, and sending entertainment in the form of in-room activities and videos to enjoy, such as musical performances.

On this Giving Tuesday, we hope you might think of Holly Hall and our residents. For decades, Holly Hall has been dedicated to caring for seniors in the Houston community, including those who are unable to do so themselves. At times, residents may find that they have outlived their retirement savings and can no longer afford their cost of care. Holly Hall is dedicated to ensuring that these residents are able to continue living in their home with us and receiving the same quality care. A gift to Holly Hall today will help to continue to ensure that this is possible and is needed more so now, in these uncertain times, than ever before.

From all of us at Holly Hall, thank you for being a part of our family. We are blessed beyond measure to have the love and support of the Houston community. We look forward to the day when we can gather again and celebrate this vibrant community.
