Tuesday, December 15, 2020, marked Holly Hall’s 68th annual Silver Tea. Last year’s time-honored event was a virtual tea and home tour featuring the unique home of Anne Whitlock and Michael Skelly. Anne and Michael renovated Houston’s decommissioned Fire Station No. 2, built in 1910, and it is now their main residence. Our virtual tour gave participants a rare glimpse into the home and its history as a fire station.
During the tea, we took time to honor two very worthy individuals. Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña is a 26-year veteran of the fire service and has been chief of the Houston Fire Department 2016. Holly Hall is often reliant on the Houston Fire Department and is proud to honor the man who leads a dedicated team of first responders.
The remarkable Mary Bain Pearson was given a special Legacy Honoree designation for her 57 years of service as a Board Member with Holly Hall and her dedication to the Houston Community. Mary Bain has spent countless hours volunteering with Holly Hall residents and given valuable leadership over the years. Mary Bain has truly made her mark on Holly Hall and we are delighted to honor such a deserving individual.
RESIDENTS’ COST OF CARE
Proceeds from the Silver Tea are used to cover the “cost of care” for those residents who, over time, are no longer able to do so themselves. Holly Hall is dependent on the generosity of friends like you to provide such care. A gift to the Silver Tea will provide a resident the peace-of-mind that they may continue living in their home despite their individual circumstances.
Keeping the safety of everyone in mind, last year’s Tea was held virtually, which allowed donors of $100 or more to join us in the comfort of their homes. The tour aired live on December 15th at 1:30 pm and was available to view online through January 1, 2021.
2021 SILVER TEA
We are still confirming the details of the 2021 Silver Tea and will be excited to announce them soon! We expect that the 2021 Silver Tea will also be held virtually.
